Hierapolis & Laodicea

We have left Turkey's Aegean coast the last two days to explore sites associated with St Paul's ministry in the interior.

Yesterday brought us to Hierapolis, with its beautiful white rock formations formed by the hot springs, as well as a stunning theater and the tomb and martyrion of St Philip.

We also went to Laodicea, which has been recently excavated, a once grand city with buildings decorated in marble of many colors and a very impressive fourth century basilica.

Today, we celebrated the Pentecost mass in the ruins of the Church of St Paul in Antioch of Pisidia, and continued to Konya (ancient Iconium) to view the Seljuk-era mosque and several associated buildings with intricately carved wood and stone. Tomorrow, we proceed to our final destination, Cappadocia, with it's unique volcanic landscape and rock-cut churches.
