Custom Ramble

Our Nation’s Capital Region abounds in historic sites and areas of unique beauty and cultural interest. With appropriate notice, I can arrange the itinerary for a full-day or half-day ramble that focuses on the places that are of particular interest to you.

A few ideas to consider:

·       Guided tours of Smithsonian museums on our National Mall

·       Visits to Washington’s famed presidential and military memorials

·       Fredericksburg, Virginia: a colonial city with links to the Founding Fathers and the site of a pivotal Civil War battle War

·       Baltimore: Maryland’s largest city, with a handsome waterfront, fascinating museums, beautiful churches, and Fort McHenry, inspiration of our National Anthem

·       Eastern Shore: colonial towns, a first-rate maritime museum, and the state’s best seafood

·       Colonial Southern Maryland: visit restored St. Mary’s City, a refuge for religious minorities; and Port Tobacco: sleepy today, but once the home of patriots who shaped our system of government.

·       Pennsylvania Dutch Country: explore the unique Amish culture of Lancaster County and Ephrata Cloister, home of a passionate pietist sect

·       Virginia Horse Country: rolling hills, a museum of equestrian sports, a unique church, and a wine tasting at a famed vineyard.

·       Jefferson’s Charlottesville: visit Monticello, the home of our iconoclastic third president, the University of Virginia he established

Please contact me directly about your interests, and I will gladly work with you to develop a ramble at a fair price.
